tribal trampled near Coimbatore forest range

A wild elephant  trampled to death a 67 year old tribal man, near Periyanaickenpalayam forest range near Coimbatore  on Tuesday evening, around 5.30 p.m. Victim Rangan, was an Irula from Kopanari tribe. 

Rangan and wife Rangi were grazing cattle. Rangan was caught off guard while tending to livestock  in the reserve forest. 

Forest department has issued advisory to Kopanari and other settlements, to not venture into the reserve and deep forest area. Patrolling has been intensified.
