Achuthan's father G Gajendran, 43, was trampled by Masini, the elephant of Samayapuram Mari Amman Temple, Tiruchirapalli, on May 25, last year. He was her mahout.Achuthan has come back to be an assistant mahout.
"Father used to tell me that death is always around in a mahout's job, as none can predict an animal's vagaries," says Achuthan.
